1. CAIRO - Pyramids -
We visit the Great Pyramids at Cheops, the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure,
the Sphinx and the Valley Temple of King Khafre. Visit the Solar Boat Museum.
Then we take a visit to a perfumery and to see how Papyrus was made in
the days of the Pharaohs. (L)
2. CAIRO - Egyptian Museum/Islamic and Coptic Cairo -
Depart for the Egyptian Museum. The guide will relate the stories of the different kingdoms
through the ages and the Tutankhamen Exhibit. After lunch depart for Islamic Cairo -
we start at the Citadel fortress with a visit to the Mohammed Ali Mosque (the alabaster mosque),
and the Green Mosque. Then we visit Coptic Cairo home of some of the oldest Christian churches.
Walk where Mary and Joseph walked thousands of years ago.
Then a visit to the Khan El Khalili Bazaar before returning to your Hotel.
3. CAIRO - City Tour -
Take a complete city tour of Cairo from one end to the other. See this amazing city
and its many contrasts between the old and new. This tour is best done on a Friday,
the Islamic day of rest when the traffic is quieter. We will visit the Gayer Anderson House Museum,
the Cairo Tower and the modern Opera House and hear the story of the 18th and 19th century city.
4. CAIRO - City Sites -
Visit the Aqueduct, the City of the Dead, and see the Cairo Walls and Old City Gates,
the Nileometer, the Zegorat(spiral minaret), the Alazhar Mosque (the Mosque of Cairo),
and the Gayer Anderson museum, finish with a visit to the Khan El Khalili Bazaar.
5. CAIRO - Shopping & Craft Industries -
Check out the shopping centers from the modern shopping malls to the open air markets.
Witness some of the old Egyptian industries still flourishing today, Perfume, Papyrus, Silverware,
Copper, Pottery and more. Collect gifts to take home, how about a gold cartouche with your name
in hieroglyphics.
6. CAIRO - 6th of October & Media Production City -
A new community, set up as a means of relieving Cairo of the massive congestion and as an example
of creating new future communities. Egypt is a country of contrasts and this will be very evident here
with its Media production city where major films are produced on an ongoing basis, its golf resorts
and look to the future.
7. CAIRO - A Myriad of Museums -
The Museum of Agriculture, Mohammed Ali Museum, the Abdeen Palace (a replica of Buckingham
Palace, and a museum dedicated to the first half of the century), Mohammed Mahmud Museum
(Anwar Sadat’s previous home and displaying art work of the likes of Renoir and Picasso).
